Shadwell Stud contacted us to discuss their requirement for a profile that could be used as an anti-cast strip within a new stable block.
The design was to be based upon an existing wooden anti-cast strip which had been installed some years ago but which was a proven sizing.
A move away from wood was sought for improved durability. As well as eliminating the risk of additional injuries through the potential splintering of the wood.
Samples of PVC 2379 were sent for evaluation as the profile was of a similar size and shape. The profile was approved and an order placed.
The installation proved successful and the new anti-cast strip has been fitted to assist thoroughbred racehorses to self-right and minimise the risk of injury to themselves and the stable hands.
