Man carrying trees for Plant a Tree (World Land Trust), part of Wilks' Green Policy

In partnership with World Land Trust, we have donated £5 for every 10m² of Flexiteek 2G synthetic teak decking produced. This has resulted in 7358 trees being planted.

Wilks together with Flexiteek are pleased to be working with World Land Trust for a second year during 2021.

More specifically we are working alongside the Plant a Tree scheme. We have contributed to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate changes. WLT works with in-country partners to protect crucial areas of land. Additionally, sites are selected that are rich in biodiversity and that support long-term conservation goals. This contributes to the goal of connecting and enlarging protected areas. The Plant a Tree is supports the reforestation process. From the planting and care of young trees, all the way through to their establishment as new forest habitat.

In 2019, global deforestation reached 64 million acres a year.

But with your help, World Land Trust is helping to restore these lost forests. Reforestation is one of the main ecosystem restoration methods.

How it Works

So far, support for Plant a Tree has planted over 2 million trees across 5,930 acres. Our partners are involved in every step of the reforestation process. Each £5 donation covers the seed collection, growing, planting and protection. This then helps a new forest and supports biodiversity and tackles climate change.

From Seed to Sampling

It’s important to plant native tree species, so our partners collect seeds from carefully selected tree species to grow in their tree nurseries.

Putting Down Roots

Saplings are tended to in a nursery until they are ready to be taken on site. Each Plant a Tree project is unique: in Borneo, local women receive education and employment, while the restoration of Atlantic Forest in Brazil provides educational opportunities for local schools.

Growing A Forest

Every one of our partners nurture and protect these newly planted trees, making sure that the habitats successfully regreen. Including replacing any seedlings that don’t survive Thunder Said Energy, the research consultancy for energy technologies have said ‘Tree planting charities are the best and most economical way to offset C02’ For more information on World Land Trust please visit www.worldlandtrust.org.
