The Origin of Our Values

Flexiteek has teams in Sweden, Poland, and the UK, along with an extensive global network of distributors who we work closely with. It’s therefore important that we have a clear Mission and Values Statement to guide progress.

Recently, the Mission, Vision and Values statement has been refreshed to better align with Flexiteek and the team behind Wilks’ current goals. This updated version is shown below.

Flexiteek and Wilks - Mission, Vision and Values Statement

When updating the Mission and Values statement, it is important to understand the original journey in which these values were curated into a singular graphic. This can be better understood when we take a look at our original four simple questions that were put to the team:

When did we do it?

Wilks products have been around since 1973, with core values deeply embedded in the surrounding team’s culture. In 2016, teams were gathered to identify these values. Their findings were displayed within the confines of a shield.

Why did we do it?

Company-wide mission, vision and values statements are important for every business. Although, for the team behind Wilks products, this was an especially important process to ensure that the strong values, originating from the founders, remained throughout as the company grew and developed.

How did it come about?

With a strong foundation of 50 years’ experience, it was therefore simple for different teams in 2016 to draw similar conclusions about the values of Wilks as a company (now Flexiteek International Ltd.).

Wilks / Flexiteek International Ltd - Drawing 1

This draft highlights innovation, invention, success and reward as key values. The Invent panel displays a die plate, which is used in the production process and is designed and fine tuned in our in-house tooling facility.

Wilks / Flexiteek International Ltd - Drawing 2

This draft notes Global, Family, Loyalty and Products. With the loyalty aspect being demonstrated in real life with over 350 years of work experience being shared across 40 team members in the only Wilks fendering manufacturing hub in Tollesbury, Essex.

Wilks / Flexiteek International Ltd - Drawing 3

This illustration showcases harmony, reliability, and achievement, and also emphasising the “Made-In-The-UK” aspect of Wilks fendering products. The diploma symbolises the ongoing progress and development within the team. Whether it’s a tool room apprentice pursuing qualifications while working alongside the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO) or production operators refining their skills to advance to the role of Machine Setter.

Wilks / Flexiteek International Ltd - Drawing 4

The drawing here symbolises success, perfection, open-mindedness and team. All displaying the camaraderie amongst the team, whilst also heralding a high-standard for themselves and the products that are developed, manufactured, sold, marketed and shipped from the Tollesbury facility.

This work resulted in a long list of values, but with some overarching themes, the final four values were identified. All of which were included in the teams’ original drawings.

  • Loyalty
  • Innovation
  • Family
  • Success

What are the next steps for the Values?

With the values being identified and added to the mission and vision statement, their job is still not done.

They influence most aspects, attitudes and actions in the day-to-day life of Flexiteek International Ltd, whether explicitly stated or not.

Firstly, the value of Loyalty reflects the nurturing of long-term respectful relationships with each other, our partners and customers.

Innovation includes the continuous development and improvements to our products and service to ‘always find a better way.’

The Family aspect involves strong family values and an ethos of team work. This is at the heart of everything that we do.

Last but not least, Success where the team strives for customer satisfaction by getting results and taking pride in how we achieve them.

Previous Wilks (Now Flexiteek International Ltd) Values design
Current Flexiteek International Ltd (Formally Wilks Rubber Plastics Co. Ltd) Values design

This changeover, from left to right, has kept all the original values. As they truly reflect the mentality and the core of the Flexiteek International Ltd team. The redesign offers a new chapter for the growing company, in terms of internal teams, product demand and the wider Flexiteek team. With the same values being installed in Sweden, for Flexiteek International AB and in Poland, for Flexiteek Marine Products.

In summary, the values stated in our Mission statement are reflected throughout Flexiteek International Ltd and the wider Flexiteek teams. They will continue to be so as the company, team and products develop and grow into the future.
