Meet the Team: John Allen, Production Operator
Meet John Allen, a production operator of Wilks products.
Tell us about your background. What did you do before joining the Wilks team?
Before arriving at Wilks, I fixed computers for a living. I worked primarily in an office. My job was to resolve any hardware or software issues that would arise. I would tackle problems both remotely and in person as a member of a Helpdesk team. It was that team-based work experience that helped me transition into the team at Wilks.
How long have you worked here?
Just shy of two and a half years.
Tell us about a typical day – what does your job involve?
Currently, my job is split into two separate areas. Working on our factory floor and also over our warehouse, my day can be very varied. From coiling PVC fendering to colour and tolerance, checking our decking every day is a new day.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy doing my bit to ensure the cogs continue to turn smoothly within our busy team. I like that we all have our individual parts to play in contributing to Wilks’ continued success. Additionally, to this, I have formed great relationships with certain members of the team. I have made friends to last a lifetime at Wilks.
What would you say your biggest achievement at Wilks has been so far?
At my time at Wilks so far, I found I have developed my attention to detail and understanding the importance of quality control.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my personal time I enjoy going to the cinema and going on days out in the countryside. I also enjoy a trip to the beach and indulging in all things related to driving and working on classic cars (especially from the 80s).
