50 Years of Innovative Marine Products
This year marks our 50th anniversary as a leading marine products manufacturer.
In 1973, Ron and Marie Berry founded Wilks (Rubber Plastics) LTD and 50 years later we’re a global innovator in marine products with a strong reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
Here is a timeline of just a few milestones we’ve celebrated over the years:
1973
- Wilks starts life in Witham, Essex.
1975
- The Wilks name is formally registered with Companies House.
- Wilks relocate the business in Tollesbury, Essex.
1977
- Our longest serving male team member, Derek Shakespeare, joined the business.
1982
- Our longest serving female team member, Debbie Hutton, joined the business.
2005
- Dek-King synthetic decking was launched.
2010’s
- The second building was acquired in Tollesbury to expand capacity and production.
2016
- Bump! Fendering range is launched, adding an exciting new range of options.
2019
- Wilks became part of the Flexiteek International Group.
2020
- Wilks and Flexiteek establish a partnership with World Land Trust to donate to the protection of endangered habitats and set about planting thousands of trees.
2022
- Click – the latest innovation in marine fendering was launched at Metstrade 2022 featuring an incredibly simple installation process.
2023
- The team has increased in size to support increased production in Tollesbury.
- So, new facilities were added to the Tollesbury production centre.
- 28,500 trees and counting have since been planted around the world in partnership with World Land Trust.
