Wilks Bake Off Competition Winners for Macmillan Cancer Care
Baking cakes for charity has become a bit of a thing in recent years. The Macmillan Cancer Care Great Coffee Morning has grown to become something everyone can take part in since it started in 1990. And it’s a popular concept as charity giving goes, after all who wouldn’t love eating cake!
Here at Wilks, we’ve been doing our bit too. Holly from our sales team organised the day and got many of us baking cakes. From a delicious cheesecake from Derek Shakespeare to a Red Velvet Cake made to look like Wilks fendering on a boat! We had just about every type of cake known to man.
Part of the fun on the day was the judging of ‘The Wilks Bake Off’ competition. Our judge was Marie Berry, Mum to Chris and Scott. It was a tough call too, with our three winners as follows:
- Phoebe won 1st place for her Caramel and Coffee cake
- Anne won 2nd place
- Darren won 3rd place
What was remarkable was the turn out at the Bake Off. The entire team took part either baking or donating. So, we need to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone on our incredible team who made the day so memorable.
We raised a brilliant £252, which was matched by Chris and Scott, to bring in a total of £505 for a very good cause.
Well done team Wilks!
